Q: How does weather affect chocolate?
A: Chocolate is extremely fragile to transport and there are many factors to consider when handling it. First, chocolate is very sensitive to temperature; chocolate begins to melt at 90 degrees Fahrenheit (about 37 degrees Celsius) as the cocoa butter begins to heat up, and is completely melted between 104 and 113 degrees Fahrenheit (about 40 to 49 degrees Celsius). Chocolate is also very sensitive to moisture and humidity above 50%. Chocolate needs to be stored properly, away from heat, light, and other foods. Strong odors are absorbed by chocolate, which can ruin its taste. If not stored properly, chocolate will develop a phenomenon called "blooming." Blooming is when chocolate absorbs enough moisture to turn white, with fat or sugar crystals floating to the surface. In addition, when chocolate is exposed to extreme temperatures, it can develop an oily texture. While this phenomenon can make the chocolate look unpleasant, it is still safe to eat. Weather conditions and other factors must be considered when shipping chocolates to any destination.
Q: How should "Autumn Taylor" be pronounced? What does it mean?
A: "Autumn Taylor" refers to a state of lightheartedness. A lighthearted mood. It also means being able to fly through the air, like a butterfly.
Q: Why choose edibles over smoking/vaping?
A: Many people are interested in edibles because they don't like the painful experience of smoking and/or are concerned about the long-term health effects of smoking.
Inhaled cannabinoids are metabolized differently than edible cannabinoids. When smoking/vaping, the cannabinoids pass through the lungs, directly into the bloodstream, and eventually reach the brain. When edible cannabinoids are metabolized through the stomach and then the liver, where they undergo a longer metabolic process.
The effects of smoked marijuana usually peak within the first 10 minutes and dissipate quickly over the next 30 to 60 minutes. Due to the way edible marijuana is metabolized, the effects may take 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect, and the effects may last for several hours.
Q: What is the difference between full spectrum and broad spectrum?
A: Full spectrum products contain all active cannabinoids. They contain naturally occurring cannabinoids (less than 0.3% THC), plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and plant proteins that work together, often referred to as the "entourage effect," to multiply the potential benefits.
Broad spectrum products contain most of the active cannabinoids except THC. Broad spectrum products are made by taking a full spectrum extract and further processing to remove trace amounts of THC. Broad spectrum products contain a range of naturally occurring cannabinoids, plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and plant proteins, all from the original cannabis source. Similar to full spectrum products, these compounds work together to create what is known as the "entourage effect," to multiply the potential benefits.
Q: How much should I take/what is the correct dose?
A: The rule of thumb is to use small amounts at a time. Start with a small amount per salve. Once you achieve the desired relief with a small amount of salve, you can always adjust the dose to achieve the level of relief you want.
Q: How long does it take for me to feel the effects?
A: Typically, the onset of effects is between 30 minutes and 2 hours, and the effects can last for several hours. That means the average onset is about 45 minutes. Many factors can affect the onset time. These factors include how hydrated you are, whether you consume on an empty or full stomach, and each person's unique physiology. But in general, we find that hydration is the most important factor affecting onset time.
Q: Why is dark chocolate so effective at delivering cannabinoids?
A: Cannabinoids need to bind to fat cells in order to be delivered effectively. Dark chocolate is rich in cocoa butter (fat), which makes it an excellent carrier.
The flavanols in dark chocolate stimulate the production of nitric oxide in the body. Nitric oxide dilates blood vessels, which improves blood flow.
Stimulating the production of nitric oxide increases the bioavailability of cannabinoids in the blood, which increases the overall effectiveness of cannabinoid use.
